Tasty Cranberry Sauce Recipe

I’ve tried several cranberry recipes over the years, but everyone seems to like this one the best.  It’s yummy.

Ingredients

  • 1-pound fresh cranberries (wash and dry them first)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • ½ tsp. ground allspice
  • ¼ tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice and the zest
  • ¼ cup pecan pieces

Directions

  1. In a medium pot, combine the cranberries, sugar, and water.  Stir to blend.  Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer.
  2. Add the cinnamon stick, allspice, and nutmeg.  Stir to blend and simmer for an additional 5-7 minutes.   Some of the cranberries will burst, and some will remain whole.
  3. Add the orange juice and orange zest – stir.
  4. Pour into a bowl and cool.  Sprinkle it with pecan pieces, then place it in the refrigerator.
